We live in highly challenging times in which the need for intelligent use of water is becoming essential. Despite the Irrigated Area having tripled in the past 50 years, an estimated 850 million people all over the world are suffering from malnutrition.
The world population is growing, urbanisation rates are increasing, high oil prices are pushing Agriculture to produce crops to produce fuel, and global climate change is contributing to increased water needs in the near future.
The models predict that by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population will have restrictions in obtaining freshwater. In this scenario we can expect the cost of water for Irrigation to gradually increase as the demand and restrictions increase.
